6G通信系統要求石英晶體振蕩器具備的關鍵規格X1G0042410001
通信傳輸網絡的世界中,核心網、城域網、移動回傳網、接入網和企業網絡(LAN/SAN)從上至下呈樹狀分布。每種網絡均設定 了各自通信所需的獨自規格。而且,伴隨近年高速通信終端及影像傳輸等普及,骨干網中流過的通信量有增無減,通信的高速、大容量化進展迅速,通信基礎設備亦不斷擴充。進行如上所示的高速數據通信的通信協議需要具備傳輸線路、系統以及誤碼率等性能。 誤碼率(以下簡稱為“BER”)是指進行收發信之際,收信方接收數據中的誤碼數除以發出的數據總字節數得出的錯誤率。尤其對 于 BER,信號所具有的噪音和抖動是非常重要的參數,對信號品質的影響極大。 本次,我們將說明基于通信設備所需的信號品質而要求振蕩器具備的關鍵規格,并介紹市場中銷售的振蕩器結構及特征,以及適 于通信設備的愛普生晶振產品。
【高速通信系統的構成】
首先,用圖 1 表示兩只收發模塊之間通過 PCI、SATA 或 10GbE 等各種通信協議傳輸數據的常用通信系統傳輸線路。在這樣的系 統中,使用振蕩器生成基準信號。通常,基準信號用低于數據傳輸率的頻率起振。所以,為了以基準信號生成串聯數據,發送方使 用收發模塊中的鎖相環電路(PLL,Phase Locked Loop)把基準信號頻率倍增到需要的頻率后發送。與此相對,接收方使用收到 的數據流中內含鎖相環電路的時鐘數據恢復(Clock Data Recovery)復原基準信號,并用復原后的基準信號復原數據。在部分高 端系統中,也采用根據接收方所持有的基準信號復原數據的方式。如上所示,在收發信的過程中隨時進行著信號的轉換與復原。在 日益高速的通信中,接收方必須正確判斷接收的數據是 0 還是 1。因此,如何抑制信號自身的抖動和噪音提高信號品質、如何設計 最佳的傳輸線路專用集成電路是非常重要的課題。
【信號品質評估手法】
評估通信系統中信號本身的品質時,經常使用眼圖。眼圖是使用示波器等測試儀器收集大量高速數字信號波形后重合而成的圖形, 由于波形重合后呈“眼”狀而得名。 假設傳輸線路的通信協議為 10GbE,該系統中傳輸 10Gbps 的信號所用時間(長度)為各字節 100 微微秒。評估信號品質時,將 每隔 100 微微秒重復出現的信號相重合后制成眼圖。假設基準信號很純正且傳輸線路的專用集成電路設計良好,則可以獲得如圖 2 左所示的幾乎完全重合的波形。與其相反,如果基準信號中噪音和抖動較多、或因專用集成電路的設計而產生傳輸線路的頻帶不足 等損失,信號波形則會變得不穩定,重合后的波形呈現圖 2 右所示的眼睛逐漸閉攏的情況。
判斷信號數據是 0 還是 1 時,重要的是開眼部的長寬足夠大。 開眼部因噪音和抖動而縮小,將導致接收方無法準確判斷信號數據,BER 變高。現在幾乎所有通信系統均要求 BER 至少應達到 1 ×10-12。這意味著每傳輸 1012 字節的數據時允許出現 1 個字節的錯誤。 綜上所述,從眼圖中可以獲得噪音、抖動或頻帶不足等有關信號品質的各種信息。
【構成抖動的要素】
圖 3 表示通信系統中抖動的構成要素。總體抖動 TJ (Total Jitter)用確定性抖動 DJ(Deterministic Jitter) 與隨機抖動 RJ(Random Jitter)之和來表示。確定性 抖動表示因電路設計、電磁感應或外界因素而產生的抖 動。確定性抖動的特征是頻率擴散保持一定,且與時間 變化無關。作為基準信號源的振蕩器性能中影響確定性 抖動的是失真和分諧波。
隨機抖動名副其實表示無法預測的抖動成份。它受元 器件自身的特性、熱噪音等因素的影響而自然產生。隨 機抖動的特征是隨時間而擴散。作為基準信號源的振蕩器性能中,影響隨機抖動的正是基準信號源的抖動。 其它系統中的因素也被歸類為產生抖動的要因,例如插件的電源噪音與串擾、因電纜設計等影響而引起的頻帶不足是產生確定性 抖動的要因,而專用集成電路的噪音等則是產生隨時抖動的要因。因此,系統設計人員需要通過改善專用集成電路的設計、變更基 板布局以及變更部品等減小總體抖動。
【市場中銷售的振蕩器(基準信號源)的結構與特征】
首先,讀者應該已理解,要維持信號品質就必須選擇噪音和抖動影響少的基準信號源。在此,我們將說明現在市場中銷售的振蕩 器的結構(類型)及其特征。
現在市場中銷售的振蕩器大致可分為 4 種類型,其結構如圖 4 所示。
第一種是最為常見的基波起振的振蕩器。這種振蕩器的噪音、抖動及失真特性十分優越,能提供高精度和高性能的所有特性。它 的電路組成也相對簡單,所以能夠把耗電量控制在較小程度。
第二種是利用三次諧波的振蕩器。諧波起振的電路設計中所采用的方法是利用濾波電路減小基波的負電阻,以所需倍數(這里是 三次)的頻率產生負電阻。這種方法可以獲得基波起振的情況下難以獲得的高頻輸出,并且可以保持較高的 Q 值,從而能夠獲得 良好的低接近載波相位噪音性。然而由于電路設計(調整)較為復雜,這種方法也存在著耗電量增加,以及電容比增大而使頻率可 變幅度變小的缺點。
第三種是利用鎖相環電路的石英振蕩器。這種振蕩器把石英或硅諧振器作為基準信號源發出輸入信號,利用鎖相環電路生成輸入信號 的同步信號,輸出必要的頻率。因此,這種方法的優點在于利用鎖相環電路技術獲得任意頻率的便利性以及能夠提供高頻之處。但 是,它的電路結構較為復雜致使耗電量增加,對噪音及抖動性能也帶來了不良影響。我們以前也曾經介紹過,在使用硅諧振器的情 況下,由于硅諧振單元所具有的溫度特性不佳,需要補償的溫度范圍太大而無法進行模擬式的溫度補償,因此必須采用鎖相環電路 技術進行溫度補償。所以,它在控制信號噪音和抖動的品質指標方面十分不利。
最后是 LC 振蕩器。這種振蕩器與鎖相環電路一樣極為方便,施加功率后輸出較大的振幅,且本底噪音也較低。與此相反,由于 材料本身所具有的 Q 值較低,所以頻率穩定度和老化特征較差,低接近載波相位噪音性也存在著問題。
如上所示,市場中銷售的振蕩器有著不同的結構,應當根據用途選擇適宜的產品。為了回應這些需求,愛普生向顧客提供已具備 了作為基準信號源所需相位噪音特性、相位抖動和失真特性的振蕩器產品,以此致力于維護顧客通信系統的信號品質。
【適用于通信系統的低相位抖動的愛普生振蕩器產品介紹】
愛普生將基波振蕩器(類型 1)定為主力產品,已形成了具備高速通信系統所需抖動性能的不同的產品陣容。表 1 表示其中具有 代表性的產品。
我們原則使用石英晶體單元作為波源。頻率不到 80MHz 的振蕩器使用 AT 型石英晶體,80MHz 以上則使用了采用反向臺形 AT 型 石英晶體的高頻基波模式(High Frequency Fundamental,HFF)技術,提供 SG 系列振蕩器以及 VG 系列壓控晶體振蕩器。我們 還提供使用表面聲波(SAW)技術并具有最佳抖動性能的 EG、XG 系列 SAW 振蕩器,以及 EV 系列壓控型 SAW 振蕩器(VCSO)。 而且,我們準備了 CMOS、LV-PECL、LVDS、HCSL 等各種輸出,全部產品均保持了石英本身所具有的出色優點,并擁有能夠充 分滿足各種用途的顧客要求的信號品質的產品規格。
